How Energy Systems Catapult built a Living Lab community of over 4,000 households using our scalable data management system to test clean energy innovations and accelerate the path to net zero.
Energy Systems Catapult, one of Innovate UK's technology and innovation centres, launched their Living Lab to provide a real-world test environment for trialling new clean energy innovations in 2015.
They were in need of a fully scalable and reliable data management system to effectively capture, process, and analyse half-hourly energy consumption data from thousands of connected homes.
API access for seamless integration: Hildebrand's APIs give Energy Systems Catapult the ability to monitor energy consumption and related data and onboard new customers.
Scalability and flexibility: Infrastructure supports both current needs and future growth.
Management tools: Catapult use our Developers Portal to manage the data streams and create Support Portal users. Our Support Portal provides insight into each individual household so the Living Lab team can do their own diagnostics and provide Tier 1 customer service.
Data, privacy, security and SECAS compliance: ISO 27001 certified, and a DCC Other User, Hildebrand provides confidence that all data handling adheres to regulatory requirements.
Flexible customer onboarding options: If a household can't be onboarded through the Living Lab Interface, Hildebrand provide a service whereby clients can sign up via either our 'Bright' app or 'glowmarkt' site and then be invited to share their data with the Living Lab. Living Lab are able to leave the harder to onboard customers to Hildebrand's solutions and avoid potentially costly new development.
Customers in control: Customers can always revoke their consent to share their data or have their meter data stop being collected.
Our Data as a Service (DaaS) solution, with its rich APIs and flexible front-end interface options, provides the perfect solution for Energy Systems Catapult. The Living Lab is now a community of over 4,000 households, offering a valuable data set for innovators to test smart energy solutions in real-life conditions.
