Introducing the Glow Agent Portal: A new approach to user onboarding

Are you an installer, retrofit specialist or local authority carrying out on-site visits? The Glow Agent Portal is here to remove one of the biggest barriers to unlocking smart meter data for your customers, and it starts working the moment you arrive at a property.

What is the Agent Portal, and why does it matter?

Using the Agent Portal, you can verify your energy consumers, capture their consent and complete onboarding in a single site visit, even for those who may struggle to complete a digital journey independently.

Smart meter data is one of the most powerful tools available in the energy sector today, but it is highly regulated and cannot be made available to an organisation without explicit consent from a verified energy consumer. This tends to be facilitated digitally, but for digitally excluded energy consumers, that process can cause friction and be a drop off point; leaving organisations without the data they need and energy consumer without the help or benefits they deserve.

The Glow Agent Portal changes that.

By enabling a trusted Agent, working on behalf of an organisation, the ability to take a consumer through the necessary verification and consent processes during a site visit, allowing organisations to reach customers who would otherwise fall through the cracks.

The process is quick, automatic and user-friendly, enabling Agents to leave the property with full confidence that the energy consumer has been fully onboarded and no follow up is required.

Glow Data Service already offers more methods for verifying energy consumers than any other offering on the market!

How it works

  • Start onboarding - The Agent enters the property’s MPxN and customer reference.
  • Verify the customer - Identity and address information are captured and supporting documents uploaded.
  • Automatic validation - Documents are checked in real time against the property and supply details, and either approved instantly or returned with clear messaging on what’s missing.
  • Capture consent - The customer reviews the terms and provides a digital signature.
  • Access smart meter data - The account is created and data access is enabled immediately.

Optional: A Glow CAD (Consumer Access Device) can be associated to the account at the end of the process to enable real-time data at the property.

What's next?

The Agent Portal is the first of several exciting innovations relating to verification and consent that Glow will be announcing this year – by improving access to, and enabling more organisations to enrich their propositions with smart meter data, we’re helping to drive the transition to net zero.

The Agent Portal is currently in its Beta stage and is available at no additional cost to organisations currently signed up to our SME or Enterprise plans.
